Ubuntu 12.04 Release Party

Event Report :

  • The event started with Introductory Speech about FOSS by Mr.Ramadoss of Yavurukumana Software Foundation. The introduction was followed by a more basic introduction to FOSS, which was geared to inculcate the culture of FOSS in schoolchildren.
  • Welcome address by Dean Dr.S.Thamarai Selvi.
  • Around 100 Students from various colleges and school participated in the event.
  • The event proceeded with an an inspirational talk on Ubuntu and  its features  by Mr.Yogesh.
  • The Ubuntu 12.04 installation demonstration was done.
  • The release of Ubuntu 12.04 was done by Mrs.Catherine Bina,The Head of Computer Society of MIT .
  • Around 20 Ubuntu CD’s were distributed to the interested students.
  • Mr.Ramadoss  briefed about the upcoming classes on FOSS to be conducted every third saturday in MIT.
  • The party came to an end with refreshments to the gathering.
